Privacy policy
How twzl handles your data, written to be read, not just scrolled past.
Last updated October 7, 2026 · Operated by Doon IO
The short version
- You can play everything without an account. Your progress lives in your browser.
- If you add an email, we store it to let you sign in and to sync your progress between devices. Nothing else.
- We show ads to adults and teens to keep the games free. The Little Learners and Kids pages never show ads and never track who is playing.
- We count visits with our own analytics, not an outside company's. We don't sell data and we don't build advertising profiles ourselves.

What we collect, and why
| Data | Where it lives | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Game progress, streaks, settings | Your browser (local storage); mirrored to our server once a player identity exists | Resume games, keep streaks, sync between devices | Until you clear it or delete your account |
| Anonymous player id and display name | Our server | Leaderboards, races and online rooms. You choose whether your name is shown; otherwise you appear as “Player #1234” | Until deleted |
| Email address (optional) | Our server | Sign-in codes; syncing your progress to other devices; streak reminders if you opt in | Until you remove it or delete your account |
| Scores and times | Our server | Leaderboards (teens and adults only) | Until deleted |
| Aggregate play counts per game | Our server | “Popular now” ordering. Not linked to you | 30 days |
| Site statistics (cookie id, pages, time on page, games played, IP address, rough location, device) | Our own analytics server | Understanding which games people play and how the site is used. Not on children's pages | Up to 24 months |
| Technical logs (IP address, browser) | Our hosting | Security, abuse prevention, rate limiting sign-in codes | Up to 30 days |
Children
The Little Learners (4–6) and Kids (7–10) hubs are built for children. On those hubs we show no advertising, post nothing to public leaderboards, never ask for an email, and collect no personal information. Progress stays on the device. Our site statistics are switched off on these pages and in any game played at these ages: no statistics cookie is set, and the visit only adds one to an anonymous count of page loads, with the page and a country and nothing that identifies anyone. The optional account is intended for parents and for players aged 13 and over; if you believe a child under 13 has given us an email address, contact privacy@twzl.app and we will delete it.
Advertising
On the tween, teen and adult areas we may show ads through Google AdSense, including rewarded ads you choose to watch for a hint or an archived puzzle. Google may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads; whether those ads are personalised depends on the choice you make in our privacy banner (and, in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, in Google's consent dialog). You can change your choice at any time from this page or from your profile. Premium members see no ads.
Read how Google uses data from partner sites at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Cookies and local storage
We use browser storage for things the site needs to work: your saved games, settings (theme, sound), your sign-in session and your consent choice. These are not used for tracking. Advertising cookies are only set after you allow ads.
Site statistics
We count visits with our own self-hosted analytics, so no outside analytics company sees them. We set one first-party cookie to tell a returning visit from a new one, and record the pages you open, how long you stay, which games you start and finish, the site you came from, your IP address, a rough location and your type of device. Browsers that send Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, anyone who chooses “Essential only”, and every Little Learners and Kids page are not tracked: we only count that a page was loaded, with the page and a country, and no cookie.
Payments
Premium purchases are processed by Stripe. We receive a confirmation that a subscription is active and the last four digits of the card for your receipts, never the full card number. Stripe's privacy policy applies to the payment itself.
Your rights
You can see everything we hold on your profile page, export it on request, correct your name yourself, and delete your account and all synced data with one button (Profile → Delete account). Depending on where you live you may also have rights to object to processing or to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; we honour these for everyone regardless of location. Requests: privacy@twzl.app.
Where data is stored
Our servers and database are hosted in Finland, in the EU. Google (advertising) and Stripe (payments) process data under their own terms and may transfer it internationally under standard safeguards.
Changes
When this policy changes materially we update the date above and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
