About Sudoku

Fill every row, column and box with 1–9. Three difficulties, notes, and a fresh daily grid shared with every player.

Sudoku is a logic puzzle on a nine by nine grid. Fill every row, every column and every three by three box with the numbers 1 to 9, each exactly once. There is no maths involved, only careful reasoning, and every twzl grid has exactly one solution.

Tips

  • Start with the rows, columns and boxes that are nearly full: a box with seven numbers has only two left to place, and often only one place for each.
  • Scan one number at a time. Pick a 5, look at every box that lacks one, and ask where a 5 can still go.
  • Use notes. Pencil the candidates into the squares you are unsure of, then clear them as you place numbers.
  • When two squares in a box can only hold the same two numbers, those numbers are spoken for, and can be removed from every other square in that box.
  • If you are stuck, look for a square with only one candidate left rather than guessing: a good Sudoku never needs a guess.

Questions

Is it free?
Yes. Every puzzle on twzl is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account needed.
Is there a new Sudoku every day?
Yes. A fresh grid appears each day at midnight, and everyone gets the same one, so you can compare times with friends and on the leaderboard.
Can I play yesterday's puzzle?
Yes. Every past daily grid is in the archive, one tap from the game.
How hard is it?
There are three levels. Easy suits a first try, and hard needs the pairs and candidate techniques above.
Does it save my progress?
Yes. Your grid is saved as you go, and it follows you to another device if you add an email to your account.
