Five
About Five
Guess the five-letter word in six tries. Everyone in the world gets the same word, share your grid, keep your streak.
Five is a daily word guessing game. You have six tries to find a hidden five-letter word, and after each guess the letters change colour to tell you what is right. Everyone gets the same word each day, so it makes for easy conversation.
Tips
- Open with a word that uses five different common letters, with two or three vowels. It rules out more than it confirms, which is what you want early.
- Green means the right letter in the right spot, amber means the letter is in the word but somewhere else. Grey letters are out, so stop using them.
- Remember that letters can repeat. If you are stuck on three greens, a double letter is often the answer.
- On your second guess, try fresh letters rather than the ones you already know. You will learn more.
- Hard mode makes you use every revealed hint in the next guess. Switch it on before your first guess: it locks for the day once you start.
Questions
- Is it free?
- Yes. Five is free in your browser, with no download and no account needed.
- When is the new word?
- A new word appears every day at midnight, the same for everyone.
- Can I play the past days?
- Yes. Earlier words are in the archive, one tap from the game.

- Yes. Your streak and stats are saved in your browser, and they follow you to another device if you add an email to your account.
- Is there a harder version?
