About Slingshot

Real physics, and you throw anything: apples and watermelons, anchors and buoys, a bowling ball, a fire hydrant, an anvil. Twelve places with eight levels each, and every place hands you its own things, each with its own weight and bounce and some with a trick: a snowball that grows as it rolls, a surfboard that skips over water, a magnet that drags steel, a rocket you fire in flight. Carts, swings and lifts that move, thick glass only a heavy throw breaks, and a tall tower at the end of every place. Shatter the crystals hidden in each tower, and fill your collection as you go.

Slingshot is a physics game where you throw anything. Pull back the sling, let go, and bring towers down on the crystals hidden inside them. Each of the twelve places gives you its own things to throw, around forty in all: a watermelon that bursts into chunks, an anchor that sinks, a snowball that grows as it rolls, a fire hydrant that sprays, a rocket that fires its engine in flight. Every level is built around one idea, and every thing you find goes into your collection.

Tips

  • Read the line at the top of each level. It tells you the one idea the level is built around.
  • Choose what to throw first. Tap a thing in the tray, or press its number, and save the special ones for the shot that needs them.
  • Heavy things are slow but hit hard: a bronze bell or an anvil cracks stone that an apple only scuffs.
  • Things with a trick wait for your tap in flight. Open the hydrant just before it reaches the tower, and drop the anvil right over its mark.
  • The faint dots from your last throw stay on screen, so you can correct by a degree or two.

Questions

Is it free?
Yes. Slingshot plays in your browser with no download and no account needed.
How do I get things into my collection?
Clear the level where you first throw something and it is yours. The Collection button on the map shows everything there is, with the ones still to find as dark shapes.
How are the stars decided?
Each level was cleared by a solver bot with the same physics. Match its number of throws for three stars; one more earns two.
How do I play on a phone?
Drag back from anywhere near the sling and let go. Tap the screen while something is flying to use its trick.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes. There is nothing scary in it, just everyday things and towers falling down, and it is good for aim and cause and effect.

How to play

  1. Drag back anywhere near the slingshot and let go. The dots show where it will fly.
  2. What you can throw lies under the scene. Tap one, or press its number, to load it next.
  3. Some things have a trick: tap while they fly to fire a rocket, open a hydrant or drop an anvil.
  4. Shatter every crystal. Fewer throws earn more stars, and every level cleared can add to your collection.
  5. Turn on the Helper for one extra throw in every level and dots that run all the way to where it lands.
