Word Search
About Word Search
A daily word search with a new theme every day, from fruit and farm animals to space, pirates and the deep sea. Drag across a word to circle it, or tap its first letter and then its last. Kids get an eight-by-eight grid with words that run across and down; older players a bigger grid with words that run on the diagonals and backwards too. Find every word against the clock.
Word Search hides a list of words in a square of letters, all on one theme that changes every day. Drag across a word to circle it, or tap its first letter and then its last. The kids' grid is eight squares across with words that run only across and down; older players get a bigger grid where words also run on the diagonals and backwards.
Tips
- Hunt for the first letter of a word, then look at the eight squares around it for the second letter.
- Unusual letters stand out: a word with a Q, Z, X, J or K is often the quickest to find.
- Look for double letters, like the two Ps in APPLE. Pairs are easier to spot than single letters.
- In the bigger grids, remember words can run backwards and on the diagonals.
- Long words are easier to spot than short ones. Find them first, then the short ones in what is left.
- Stuck on the last word? The hint shows where it starts, though it keeps the day off the leaderboard.
Questions
- Is it free?
- Yes. Word Search is free in your browser, with no download and no account needed.
- Is there a new puzzle every day?
- Yes. Every day has its own theme and grid, the same for everyone in the same age group, and past days are in the archive.
- Which ways do the words run?
- In the kids' grid, across and down. In the others, across, down, on both diagonals, and backwards in all of those.
- How is it timed?
- The clock runs from when you start until you find the last word. The fastest times without a hint go on the leaderboard.
