Reversi
EveryoneAbout Reversi
Trap a line of your opponent’s discs between two of yours and the whole line turns. The lead swings wildly until the last few moves, which is the charm of it. Play the computer at three strengths, pass the phone round, or open a room and play a friend.
Reversi is played on an eight by eight board with discs that are dark on one side and light on the other. Place a disc so that a line of your opponent's discs is trapped between two of yours, and the whole line flips. The lead swings back and forth until the last few moves.
Tips
- Take the corners. A disc in a corner can never be flipped, and it anchors the edges beside it.
- Avoid the squares diagonally next to an empty corner. Playing there usually hands the corner to your opponent.
- Do not grab as many discs as you can early on. Fewer discs in the opening often means more choices later.
- Try to leave your opponent with few legal moves. A player with only bad moves has to make one.
- Edges are strong once the corner beside them is safe, and risky before.
