Lander
EveryoneAbout Lander
Fly a landing craft down onto steel pads with real thrust, spin and momentum. Six worlds, eight levels each: a grey moon with a gentle pull, red canyons with rock overhead and a flash flood, caves under the ice with meltwater and stops to refuel, a stormy moon where the wind changes with height, an asteroid with drifting decks and cargo to carry, and a volcanic moon whose vents throw you upward and whose lava rises. Rescue stranded people and fly them home, lower a crate hanging on a rope, and ride lifts that rise and fall. Both legs on the deck, slow and upright, and the landing counts. A Helper for young pilots softens the pull and puts you back on the last pad after a crash.
Lander is the classic moon landing game with real physics: the engine pushes the way the craft points, the side thrusters set it spinning, and gravity never stops pulling. Forty-eight designed levels across six worlds take you from a gentle grey moon to ice caves, a windy moon of a gas giant, an asteroid with drifting decks and a volcanic moon whose vents throw you upward.
Tips
- Start the burn early. Slowing a fall takes longer than it looks, and on the heavier worlds far longer.
- Lean against any drift well before the ground. The last few metres should be a slow, straight drop with the readout green.
- Both legs have to be on the deck, anywhere on it, right up to the end lights. The markers under your feet turn green when they are over the pad.
- Taps on the turn pad are worth more than holds. The craft keeps turning until the attitude hold catches it.
- In the wind, get low early: it is strongest high up and dies away near the ground.
- On a drifting deck, match its speed before you come down. What counts is your speed against the deck, not against the ground.
Questions
- Is it free?
- Yes. Lander plays in your browser with no download and no account needed.
- Why did my landing count as a crash?
- The result card says exactly why: too fast down, too much tilt, sliding sideways, a leg past the end of the deck, or no pad under you at all, with the number that failed it.
- How do I play on a phone?
- Two thumbs: the turn pad on the left (press the half you want to turn toward) and the thrust button on the right.
- How are the stars decided?
- Any landing earns one star. Two and three come from the fuel you keep, measured against what the autopilot used when it flew the level.
- What is the ghost?
- Your best run of a level flies beside you as a faint outline, so you can race your own line. It can be hidden with the eye button.
