EveryoneAbout Checkers
Classic draughts on an 8×8 board. Captures are mandatory, jumps chain, reach the far side to crown a king. Play the computer at three levels, pass-and-play on one device, or invite a friend online.
Checkers, also called draughts, is played on an eight by eight board. Pieces move diagonally, captures are compulsory, jumps chain, and a piece that reaches the far side is crowned a king that moves both ways. Play the computer at three levels, two players on one device, or a friend online.
Tips
- Keep your back row filled for as long as you can. It stops the other side from crowning kings.
- Hold the centre. Pieces in the middle of the board have more moves and are harder to trap.
- Because captures are compulsory, you can offer one piece to force a jump that sets up a double capture for you.
- Move in pairs and keep your pieces backed up. A lone piece is easy to take.
- Once you have a king, use it to pick off stragglers while your other pieces stay safe.
