Breaker
EveryoneAbout Breaker
Slide the paddle, bounce the ball, smash the wall. Sixty-three walls in six places, from a greenhouse to a space dock, and each place has its own twist: gears that slide, a gale, linked port holes, falling ingots, plated bricks. Along the way come walls that creep down, two balls at once, a key that opens a cage, numbered bricks to break in order, pictures to knock apart, and bosses that move and shoot back. Catch power-ups for a wide paddle, three balls, a catch, a laser, a slow ball or an extra life, turn on the helper for a wider paddle, a slower ball and a safety net, and earn up to three stars a wall.
Breaker is the paddle and ball game: slide the paddle, keep the ball in play and knock out every brick in the wall. There are sixty-three walls in six places, from a greenhouse to a space dock, and each place adds one new idea, such as rows of gears that slide, a gale that pushes the ball sideways, linked port holes or molten bricks that drop hot ingots. Clear a wall without dropping a ball for three stars.
Tips
- Steer with the edge of the paddle. The ball leaves at a steep angle off the ends and almost straight up off the middle, so move to meet it off-centre when you want it to go somewhere.
- Aim for gaps that lead behind the wall. Once the ball is bouncing between the bricks and the ceiling it breaks several in a row, and each brick broken before it comes back to the paddle scores more than the last, up to eight times the first.
- The ball speeds up a little every time it touches the paddle, so long rallies get harder. Losing a ball puts the speed back down, along with every power-up you were holding.
- Catch every capsule you can, but never chase one at the cost of the ball. Catch lets you hold the ball and aim the next shot; let go, tap or press space to send it off.
- In the Volcano Forge, step out from under a falling ingot. One that lands on the paddle stuns it for about a second, which is long enough to lose a ball.
- Iron never breaks and does not count towards the wall, so stop aiming at it and work round it.
Questions
- Is it free?
- Yes. Breaker plays in your browser with no download and no account needed.
- How do I play on a phone?
- Drag anywhere on the screen and the paddle follows your finger. Lift your finger or tap to launch the ball.
- How do I play on a computer?
- Move the paddle with the arrow keys or A and D, or just move the mouse. Space or a click launches the ball.
- How are the stars decided?
- Clear the wall without dropping a ball for three stars, drop one for two, and any clear earns one. You start with three balls and an extra life capsule can add more, up to five.
- What are the power-ups?
- Some bricks hold a capsule: a wide paddle, three balls at once, a catch, a laser that fires up from the paddle, a slower ball, or an extra life. The wide paddle, catch, laser and slow ball wear off after ten to sixteen seconds.
- Is there a leaderboard?
- Yes. Your best score on each wall is kept, and the total across every wall goes on the leaderboard. Clearing a wall with balls to spare adds a bonus for each one.
