Rupert's Memory Pond
TweensAbout Rupert's Memory Pond
Under every lily pad on Rupert's pond hides one of his friends, and each has a twin. Turn over two pads at a time and find every pair. Choose how big the pond is, and whether the pads hide pond friends, shapes, animals, food or things.
Rupert's Memory Pond is the pairs game on Rupert the frog's pond. Under every lily pad hides one of his friends, a snail, a duckling, a ladybug, a hedgehog, and each has a twin somewhere on the water. Turn over two pads: a pair stays up with a lily flower and Rupert, on his log, says who you found; if they are not a pair, remember where they were. Boards go from six pairs to eighteen, and the pads can hide shapes, animals, food or things instead. Two can play as well, taking turns on one device or online with a friend: a pair scores and goes again.
Tips
- Start in one corner and work across the board in order. It is easier to remember where a card was when you turned them over in a pattern.
- On your first turn of each move, flip a card you have not seen yet. If it matches one you remember, you can go straight to the pair.
- Say the pictures out loud as they turn over. Naming them helps the memory stick, especially for young children.
- Pick a board that feels a little hard but not frustrating. The game remembers your size and theme for next time.
- For parents: the stars measure how close your child came to finding each pair in one move, so they show progress in memory rather than speed.
